Last Updated: 4 September 2026

These Terms & Conditions govern the use of the BD Shades Ltd website and, where applicable, the provision of services by BD Shades Ltd.

By using this website, requesting a quotation or engaging BD Shades Ltd to carry out work, you acknowledge these Terms & Conditions together with any separate quotation, proposal, scope of works or written agreement provided for your project.

1. About BD Shades Ltd

Our contact details are:

Ireland

Telephone: 087 095 5901
Email: shadesportlaoise6@gmail.com

Throughout these Terms & Conditions, “BD Shades”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to BD Shades Ltd.

“Customer”, “client”, “you” and “your” refer to the person, company or organisation using our website or engaging our services.

2. Website Use

The information provided on this website is intended to give a general overview of our services.

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on the website is accurate and up to date. However, individual projects, surfaces, coatings and site conditions vary considerably.

Information contained on this website should therefore not be treated as a guarantee that a particular cleaning, painting or restoration process will be suitable for every material or project.

A project may require inspection, testing or further assessment before a suitable method can be recommended.

3. Requesting a Quote

Submitting a contact form, making a telephone enquiry or requesting a quotation does not automatically create a contract between you and BD Shades Ltd.

Before providing a final quotation, we may require information about:

  • The location of the project
  • The size of the area involved
  • The surface material
  • The contamination, coating, paint or corrosion being removed
  • Site access
  • Working height
  • Utilities available on site
  • Working restrictions
  • Safety requirements
  • The condition of the existing surface
  • The finish required
  • Any other information relevant to the project

Where necessary, we may request photographs, drawings, specifications or a site visit.

4. Quotations

Unless otherwise stated, quotations are based on the information available to us at the time they are prepared.

A quotation may be revised where the actual site conditions or scope of work differ materially from the information originally provided.

Examples include hidden coatings, unexpectedly heavy corrosion, inaccessible areas, unstable surfaces, additional contamination or work requested by the client after the original quotation.

Any quotation may also contain project-specific Terms & Conditions. Where project-specific terms differ from these general website terms, the written quotation or contract agreed for that project will normally take priority.

A quotation is not considered accepted until acceptance has been confirmed in the manner requested by BD Shades Ltd.

5. Surface Assessment and Test Areas

Laser cleaning and surface preparation can behave differently depending on the material, age, previous treatments and condition of the surface.

BD Shades Ltd may recommend or carry out a test area before proceeding with wider cleaning.

A test area can help establish:

  • Suitable laser settings
  • How the contamination responds
  • The condition of the underlying material
  • The likely appearance after cleaning
  • Whether previous coatings or treatments are present
  • Whether further preparation or repair may be required

Approval of a test area may be requested before the remainder of the work proceeds.

6. Existing Surface Condition

Cleaning can expose defects that were previously hidden beneath paint, dirt, corrosion or coatings.

These may include:

  • Pitting
  • Cracks
  • Previous repairs
  • Discolouration
  • Corrosion damage
  • Weak or deteriorated material
  • Differences in colour
  • Previous abrasive damage
  • Failed coatings
  • Surface imperfections

BD Shades Ltd is not responsible for pre-existing deterioration or damage that becomes visible as a result of properly carrying out the agreed cleaning or preparation work.

Laser cleaning removes contamination from suitable surfaces. It does not restore material that has already been physically lost through corrosion, erosion, impact or deterioration.

7. Laser Cleaning Results

We aim to achieve the agreed standard of cleaning using suitable equipment and operating methods.

However, the final appearance can depend on the condition and history of the surface.

Some stains, corrosion marks, colour changes or deeply embedded contamination may remain after the removable surface layer has been cleaned.

On heritage, natural stone, older metalwork and previously treated surfaces, natural variations may become more noticeable after cleaning.

Where a particular visual finish is important, this should be discussed before work begins.

8. Painting and Surface Preparation

Where BD Shades Ltd is carrying out painting or coating work, the quality and longevity of the completed finish may depend on the condition of the underlying surface.

We may recommend additional preparation where necessary.

Clients should inform us of any known previous treatments, coatings, contamination, moisture problems or structural issues that could affect the work.

Where another contractor applies a coating after BD Shades Ltd has completed cleaning or preparation, responsibility for the suitability, application and performance of that subsequent coating remains with the relevant contractor or product supplier unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Site Access

The client is responsible for providing reasonable and safe access to the agreed working area at the arranged time.

Unless otherwise agreed, the client should ensure that the area is sufficiently clear for our team and equipment to operate safely.

Delays or additional work caused by restricted access, undisclosed site conditions or circumstances outside the agreed scope may result in additional charges.

10. Health and Safety

Laser cleaning is a specialist process and appropriate safety controls must be followed.

BD Shades Ltd may establish controlled working areas and restrict access while laser equipment or other specialist equipment is being used.

Clients, employees, contractors and members of the public must follow reasonable safety instructions provided by our team.

We reserve the right to suspend work where we believe conditions are unsafe or where required safety controls cannot be maintained.

11. Client Responsibilities

The client is responsible for providing accurate information relevant to the work.

This includes informing us about known hazards, hazardous coatings, restricted areas, fragile materials, asbestos, chemicals, electrical hazards or other circumstances that could affect how the project is carried out.

The client must also have the necessary authority to instruct BD Shades Ltd to work on the property, machinery, equipment or materials concerned.

12. Changes to the Scope of Work

Any request to carry out work beyond the agreed scope may result in an additional charge.

Where reasonably possible, additional work will be discussed with the client before it is carried out.

Changes may also affect the anticipated completion date.

13. Project Timescales

Any completion dates or durations provided are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

Work can sometimes be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Weather
  • Site access
  • Safety restrictions
  • Other contractors
  • Equipment access
  • Unexpected surface conditions
  • Delays caused by the client
  • Changes to the agreed scope
  • Events outside our reasonable control

We will make reasonable efforts to keep clients informed where significant delays occur.

14. Prices and Payment

Prices and payment arrangements will normally be confirmed in the relevant quotation, invoice or written agreement.

Where a deposit or staged payment is required, the relevant amount and payment date will be stated separately.

Invoices should be paid according to the payment terms shown on the invoice.

Any additional work requested outside the original scope may be charged separately.

15. Deposits

Where a deposit is requested, its purpose and amount will be confirmed as part of the quotation or booking process.

Any terms relating to cancellation, refund or retention of a deposit will be stated in the relevant project documentation and will remain subject to any statutory consumer rights that apply.

16. Cancellation by the Client

If you need to cancel or postpone scheduled work, please contact BD Shades Ltd as soon as reasonably possible.

Project-specific cancellation terms may be included in your quotation or agreement, particularly where specialist equipment, labour, travel or other resources have already been booked.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts any cancellation or withdrawal rights that a consumer has under applicable Irish law.

Where a statutory cooling-off period applies to a service contract concluded online, by telephone or away from business premises, the customer retains the rights provided by law.

Where a consumer specifically requests that services begin during an applicable cancellation period, payment may be due for work properly carried out before cancellation where permitted by law.

17. Cancellation or Suspension by BD Shades Ltd

We may postpone, suspend or cancel work where:

  • Working conditions are unsafe
  • Access cannot be provided
  • Important information has been withheld
  • Payments that are due remain unpaid
  • The scope has materially changed
  • Circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent the work from proceeding

Where possible, we will communicate with the client and attempt to resolve the issue before cancelling a project.

18. Problems With Our Services

If you believe there is a problem with work carried out by BD Shades Ltd, please contact us promptly and provide reasonable details of the issue.

We should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the work and, where appropriate, address an issue relating to services we have supplied.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects statutory rights available to consumers under Irish law.

19. Third-Party Products and Services

Some projects may involve materials, equipment, coatings or services provided by third parties.

Where appropriate, manufacturer instructions and product specifications may apply.

BD Shades Ltd is not responsible for defects in third-party products or services that are outside our reasonable control, except where responsibility arises under applicable law.

20. Liability

BD Shades Ltd will exercise reasonable care and skill when providing its services.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful.

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from circumstances outside the agreed scope of work or matters outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this section affects the statutory rights of consumers.

21. Photographs of Completed Work

We may wish to photograph completed projects for our records, website, portfolio or marketing materials.

Where a project is confidential, security-sensitive or otherwise unsuitable for publication, clients should inform us.

We will not intentionally publish confidential information supplied by a client.

22. Website Content and Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the text, branding, graphics, photographs and other original content published on this website belong to BD Shades Ltd or are used with appropriate permission.

26. Consumer Rights

Nothing contained in these Terms & Conditions is intended to remove, restrict or replace any rights that cannot legally be excluded under Irish consumer law.

Where there is a conflict between these Terms & Conditions and a mandatory statutory consumer right, the statutory right will apply.

27. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland.

Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts or other competent dispute resolution bodies of Ireland, subject to any rights a consumer may have under applicable law.
